In order to define the main aspects of its political orientation regarding Human Rights and peace, the CPDH periodically organizes National Forums with the participation of several international and domestic social organizations.
Nine national events have taken place up to now, whose reports represent a source of the national reality of the moment as well as a database of peace proposals. In the same manner, several Regional Forums have been organized, which have brought together the leaders of social sections.
These events have been source of several important initiatives, some of which have become laws, such as the Law 35 of 1982 of General Amnesty, that permitted the liberation of hundreds of political prisoners across the country. Others were included in the 1991 Constitution, in whose writing the president of the Committee, Dr. Alfredo Vázquez Carrizosa was involved. Others have been the origin of many campaigns and manifestations for Human Rights.
